Syët-öchyhy Kez (/sjɛt/ /o˞c/ [piece; portion] [half]) is a subtropical Large Town located in the Wǟlwu Moot of the Viceroyalty of Rosid.

The name Syët-öchyhy Kez is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Syët-öchyhy Kez was founded by Důkh́ Khastru, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Syët-öchyhy Kez has a yearly average temperature of 12°C (53°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 26°C (78°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a freezing -2°C (29°F). Syët-öchyhy Kez receives an average of 159 cm/y (62 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Syët-öchyhy Kez covers an area of nearly 7 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 2670 m (8759 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Syët-öchyhy Kez was founded durring the early 11th century, by Důkh́ Khastru. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Důkh́ Khastru.

Syët-öchyhy Kez was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the early 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Syët-öchyhy Kez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Syët-öchyhy Kez is was constructed arround several restrictive cobblestone mainstreets which cross one another at certain axies, with smaller streets branching off of them to premit acess to the many buildings deeper into the road network. The overall fashion is remenessent of a circulatory system, or other organic construct, and is quite effishent in its design. The town emploies a series of defencive earthworks and fences to provide minimal protection against wild beasts and smaller groups of intelegent foes. The town's somewhat suffishent are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

Syët-öchyhy Kez has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled Syët-öchyhy Kez ’s existence has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up.

Civic Infrastructure

Syët-öchyhy Kez has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Syët-öchyhy Kez. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Syët-öchyhy Kez's parks.

Syët-öchyhy Kez possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Syët-öchyhy Kez's grid is powered by a god's will and kindness.

Syët-öchyhy Kez's old civil lighting system was converted to Galvanic Lamps recently, and expanded to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

Syët-öchyhy Kez has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Syët-öchyhy Kez's natural decorations nor waterways.

Syët-öchyhy Kez has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Syët-öchyhy Kez has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Syët-öchyhy Kez has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Syët-öchyhy Kez's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is which made use of the classical orders and mathematically precise ratios of height and width combined with a desire for symmetry, proportion, and harmony. It used columns, pediments, arches and domes are imaginatively in buildings of all types. Decorative features were seen as largely unnecessary as the sheer beauty of the structure itself was often close to art. However, many buildings with large ceiling spaces had their ceilings decorated with elaborate paintings, simply because the large flat spaces could feel wasted.

Due to the actions of local Kami, autumn is recurring in Syët-öchyhy Kez.
